My extension approach emphasizes community-centered impact, intentional listening, and collaborative problem-solving to strengthen agricultural and food value chains. I work closely with producers, cooperatives, and local organizations to co-develop solutions that improve market access, promote sustainable practices, and enhance economic and nutritional outcomes. By bridging research, teaching, and outreach, I aim to create long-term partnerships that empower stakeholders and foster resilient, broadly accessible food systems.

As part of the RSM2SNF (Reducing Seasonality and Market Shocks in Nigeria’s Food Systems) project, I work with local partners to strengthen tomato and green leafy vegetable value chains from producers to retailers. I have led stakeholder consultations and workshops to design and implement large-scale surveys capturing production, marketing, and consumption dynamics.
Additionally, I conducted quantitative analyses to identify constraints and opportunities for entrepreneurship, efficiency gains, and value-added growth across the chain. This work informs practical strategies to improve market coordination and resilience.
Through this project, I also contributed to more than 60 research and outreach outputs addressing issues such as food safety, nutrition, sustainability, and supply-chain development - translating field-based insights into actionable guidance for policymakers and practitioners.

I work to strengthen connections between MSU Extension, Michigan 4-H, and the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE). My efforts focus on linking Extension program needs with graduate student expertise to create mutually beneficial research and outreach opportunities.
Through these collaborations, I help design hands-on Extension experiences that allow graduate students to apply their academic training to real-world community and university challenges, in turn building both applied skills and local impact.
May 2019 - December 2019
At the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), I contributed to the organization’s innovative impact fund, which mobilizes private and public investment for inclusive rural development. My work involved preparing analytical reports and applied knowledge products to guide governments, development agencies, and farmer organizations on agricultural finance, strategic planning, and value-chain resilience.
2018
As part of Tanzania’s MIVARF program, I collaborated with national and district-level Ministry of Agriculture officials to assess challenges and opportunities within sunflower value chains. I conducted interviews with producers, processors, and traders to identify bottlenecks and develop holistic recommendations for improving supply-chain coordination.
Fieldwork in key production districts allowed me to build relationships with local governments and producer groups, ensuring that all policy and program recommendations were firmly grounded in local realities.
